Despite having thousands of dress options to choose from, finding the right silhouette proves difficult when you’re petite.

When it comes to fashion, my mom has always taught me it’s less about following trends, and more about finding pieces that truly flatter your body shape and size.  With years of experimenting, I’ve found that A-line silhouettes best fits my 5’2 frame—exaggerating my height, adding length to my legs, and highlighting my waist.
I gravitate towards classic A-line dresses when I’m looking for an ensemble that’s playful and feminine with a hint of sophistication.  Today, I’m sharing a piece from VIPSHOP—one that easily transitions from desk to dinner with a flirty fit and flare cut that floats as I move.  The cinched waist gives the outfit more structure—nicely balancing out the full skirt, the rich emerald jewel tone adds a touch of elegance, and the stretchy ponte-like fabrication allows for more weight and movement.

I completed the look with a pair of Valentino bow pumps (one of my more comfortable heels since there’s a thick platform to balance out the heels), and a Marc Jacobs Snapshot Colorblock Camera bag (a piece that’s on trend, convenient, and versatile).

A Dress Silhouette that all Petite Girls Need

Culottes, crop tops, and sandals are the perfect formula for a summer ensemble that’s as comfortable as it is chic.  This culotte and crop top pairing takes my regular tee and jeans look to the next level without compromising comfort.

The crop top adds a bit of playfulness to the outfit, and these amazing waist high culottes with nautical stripes perfectly offsets it’s shorter textured counterpart.  With summer in full swing, I’m beginning to embrace pieces that allow for worry free movement, and nothing does that better than flowy pants!

This culotte in particular from VIPSHOP is to die for.  A size small fits my 5’2 frame seamlessly—it comes in the softest fabrication, and has a chic polished silhouette.  They’re the perfect alternative for jeans or tailored pants and should be a wardrobe staple in every girls closet.  As a petite girl, it’s a trend I’ve been hesitant to try, but now that I’ve taken the leap of faith, I’m going to be making many more purchases.  Like a skirt or dress, it keeps you cool, but like pants, allows for true ease and comfort of movement for weekend ventures.  The navy color functions like a neutral while bringing a bold pop of color to your outfit.  It’s a trend that’s contemporary and guaranteed to be relevant for years to come!

I paired my culottes with a crop top for a more fashion forward look, but simply tuck in a white silk tank for a more polished, conservative look.

If you’re as in love with these pants as I am, and are looking to purchase, feel free to use my coupon code Nicole1114 for $5 off your purchase of $50 or more.  Happy shopping!

Outerwear in my closet ranges from simple, classic, neutral numbers to stylish, head turning, statement pieces!

I’ve fallen for this fabulously textured, oversized zebra print coat from Trina Turk.   Statement pieces add a layer of interest to an otherwise boring ensemble, and quickly becomes a wardrobe staple.  This jacket never ceases to steal the spotlight, is a conversation starter, and takes you from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds.  It takes a bit of courage, but once you get started, you’ll find yourself filling your closet with special pieces.  Below are some tips on how to style your statement coat:

OPT FOR A NEUTRAL BASE:
My first rule is, if the jacket is the highlight; keep the rest of your outfit simple so you don’t find yourself looking mismatched...For this ensemble, I stuck to a black base, letting the coat shine.

HEELS/BOOTS:
Heels have a way of elevating an outfit, so if you’re going for a night out look, definitely slip into a pair of heels to add an element of elegance and refinement...Since it was chillier, I slipped into a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots with a sleek strong silhouette.

SMALL PURSE/CLUTCH:
You want accessorize with a purse that takes up less real estate, is elegant, and classy...I chose my mini metallic Lady Dior—favorite bag as of late.  Elegant, light, and a little piece of art
